Video of the complete service of the final drive:
Times in the video for individual tasks:
1:15 - 2:20 removal of the fender, loosening of the filling screw, loosening of the drain screw - you mainly need Torx of various sizes, everything can be found in the Honiton set
3:30 - 6:40 removal of the wheel, brake caliper, lowering of the final drive, disconnection of the shaft
6:54 - Castrol Optimol - lubrication of the spline shaft
8:06 - Staburags - gluing the boot
8:50 shaft connection
10:40 returning the boot to the correct place (if damaged, cracked, replace with a new one (rear boot R1250GS/A, R1200GS/A LC 2013-2018, rear boot R1200GS/A 2004-2012, rear boot R1150GS/A, R1100GS))
11:00 - 13:20 assembling all components back, including torque specifications - you need a torque wrench
13:35 - fill 180ml with suitable oil (we recommend Castrol 75W-140, or Motorex Penta LC 75W-140 or original BMW Hypoid Axle Oil G3). For accurate filling, use a syringe.
A brief discussion about gearbox oils:
Specifications of gear oils
Viscosity
For evaluating the viscosity properties of gear oils, the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers, USA) specification is used. This standard is used to classify oils into four winter grades, marked with a number and "W" (from English Winter), and five summer grades marked with a number.
Winter grades: 70W, 75W, 80W, 85W
Summer grades: 80, 85, 90, 140, 250
If only one grade is used in the designation, it means it is a monograde oil (summer or winter). When a combination of summer and winter grades is used (e.g., 80W-90), it is a multigrade oil or all-season oil. Unlike motor oils, monograde gear oils are often required by manufacturers.
Performance categories
For marking the performance category of gear oils, the API (American Petroleum Institute, USA) classification is used. The designation of the performance class consists of the letters "GL" (from English Gear Lubricant) and a number indicating the performance level, of which there are six.
The following four performance classes are currently used:
GL-3 - low-additive oils for manually shifted transmissions under moderate load
GL-4 - highly additive oils intended mainly for manual transmissions and lightly loaded hypoid drives
GL-5 - oils intended for heavily loaded hypoid drives, operating in the most extreme conditions
GL-6 - oils for hypoid gears operating under extreme conditions. They are currently used very rarely

How to properly select transmission oil?
When selecting transmission oil, similar principles apply as when selecting engine oil.
1. The first principle when selecting transmission oil is to follow the manufacturer's instructions for the motorcycle, as stated in the manual for each vehicle. Only the manufacturer of the transmission (vehicle) can responsibly say which oil can be used. Practically no manufacturer recommends a specific brand of oil (this contradicts competition laws in the European Union). Transmission manufacturers (cars) recommend oils according to so-called performance specifications, e.g. API GL-4, API GL-5, and viscosity specifications SAE, e.g. 75W, 80W-90.
2. For such recommended oils, the replacement intervals are then specified (usually 10,000 km or 1 year).
3. If you do not have a manual for the vehicle, ask the manufacturer (at the Czech importer’s headquarters) of the vehicle. Remember, the vehicle manufacturer does not recommend a brand of oil, but only the performance and viscosity specifications.
