With HPE Regina, the need for chain maintenance is significantly reduced. The surfaces of the rollers and bushings of this special chain are coated with tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C) without hydrogen - also referred to as "industrial diamond." This coating reduces friction and increases efficiency. But the best thing about the maintenance-free HPE is that it is as durable as a well-maintained standard O-ring chain. It is also good that no special sprockets are required.

 

Despite the declared maintenance-free status, occasional care is appropriate to ensure maximum lifespan, functionality, and aesthetics; please follow these simple rules:

Clean and re-lubricate the chain:

  • after washing the motorcycle
  • after riding in wet and/or salty or dusty environments
  • before storing the motorcycle at the end of the season (winter)
  • lubricate the chain once a year
  • check the chain tension every 3,000 km

The Tetrahedral Amorphous Carbon (ta-C) coating is an advanced DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating applied to the surfaces of the bushings and rollers of the HPE chain, which combines high hardness with a low coefficient of friction.

  • It eliminates the need for regular re-lubrication while ensuring at least the same mileage performance as a normal chain regularly lubricated every 500 km.
  • It reduces energy loss and increases the efficiency of the chain drive.
  • It eliminates lubricant spraying during operation and minimizes environmental impact.
  • It minimally dirties the motorcycle.
