With the HPE chain, the need for maintenance is significantly reduced. The surfaces of the rollers and bushings of this special chain are coated with tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C), also known as "industrial diamond," which is hydrogen-free. This coating reduces friction and increases efficiency. But the best thing about the maintenance-free HPE is that it is as durable as a well-maintained standard O-ring chain. It's also good that no special sprockets are required.
Despite the declared maintenance-free nature, occasional care is advisable to ensure maximum lifespan, functionality, and aesthetics. Please follow these simple rules:
Clean and re-lubricate the chain:
- after washing the motorcycle
- after riding in wet and/or salty or dusty environments
- before storing the motorcycle at the end of the season (winter)
- lubricate the chain once a year
- check the chain tension every 3,000 km
The Tetrahedral Amorphous Carbon (ta-C) coating is an advanced DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating applied to the surfaces of the bushings and rollers of the HPE chain, combining high hardness with a low friction coefficient.
- It eliminates the need for regular lubrication while providing at least the same mileage as a regular chain that is lubricated every 500 km.
- Reduces energy loss and increases the efficiency of the chain drive
- Eliminates lubricant splatter during operation and minimizes environmental impact
